Complete the Thermal Envelope

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends sealing the “thermal envelope” of the home that surrounds the living space and includes the ceiling, outer walls, windows, doors, and floors. The thermal envelope protects the inside of your home from environmental impacts, such as ultraviolet radiation, wind, temperature changes, humidity, and precipitation.

When considering the thermal envelope, it is also important to ensure that proper ventilation is in place to reduce the opportunity for moisture build-up that can cause mold or mildew and costly repair.
